Fourth graders arrived at school highly excited. Today was "Wiki Wednesday."
Their teacher, Ms. Trainor, showed them a wiki that she had created for them. It is called sws4vertebrates.wikispaces.com. Students were told that they would need to ask their parents permission to set up an email address. However, most students had an email address; those who did not spoke with parents and came to school with an email. The email address was needed to join the wiki. On Wednesday morning the fourth grade and Ms. Trainor trooped over to the computer lab to begin logging in to the wiki and requesting permission to join. Excitement was high in the lab! On Thursday, when visiting the class, students began telling me about the wiki and how much they were enjoying it. A humorous video had captured the attention of the students and they were busy talking about it. A fourth grade student stopped me in the hall and said how much she likes working on the wiki and "prefers it to pencil and paper." We are growing as 21st century learners.
