PreK Readers - April 14, 2010

Pre-K were busy working as usual!  However, what they were doing stopped me in my tracks.  The children had small booklets with a big picture and one sentence on each page.  Their teacher read the page and then the children read the page aloud.  They worked so hard at trying to follow along-pointing at each word as they read.  Several did this with a great deal of ease; others tried to follow along.  The children recognized that sentences are read from left to right and that there is space between words.  Mrs. Moser directed the children to look at both pages and pick out the words that were the same on both pages.  Hands went up and 3 words that were the same were identified with ease.  It was clear that the children were happy with "reading."
